![]() Fukui Prefectural Office / Fukui Castle Ruins Fukui Castle was home to the Echizen Matsudaira clan flourished. Inside the stonewall stands the statue of Yuki Hideyasu, the first castellan. In Uchibori Park inside the stonewall stand statues of Yuri Kimimasa, and Yokoi Shonan along with placards describing their lives and contributions to society. |

![]() Yokokan garden This used to be a villa of the Matsudaira clan, the domain lord of Fukui. Its exquisite Shoin-style architecture and magnificent garden make it one of the precious and excellent Japanese gardens representative of the middle Edo Period. It was designated as a national beauty spot in 1982 and restored based on “Osensui Sashizu”, the oldest existing pictorial drawing of the garden still in existence. ![]() Fukui City History Museum You can walk around the remains of the Fukui Castle gate, Toneri-mon, where you can see reproductions of outer moat and gate of Fukui Castle. The gate was dismantled, then reassembled outside of the museum. The model of the castle keep of Fukui castle and life-size model of Tsukumo Bridge are on permanent exhibition.
