I want to make Japanese friends and practice my Japanese.

You can post a flyer indicating that you are looking for a language partner on the bulletin board next to the Information and Consultation Corner.
Please type your leaflet, either in Japanese or in a foreign language, and register your leaflet at the Information & Consultation Corner.
Japanese people looking for language partners post their own leaflets there as well.

I want to learn Japanese.

The FIA offers the following Japanese language courses:

Systematic Courses Private Lessons
Learning Style Group Lesson Small Group Lesson
Target Students Elementary level students Students above the intermediate level
Students who are unable to attend systematic courses due to a scheduling conflict
Duration 1st Session: April to July
2nd Session: Sept to Nov
3rd Session: Jan to March
(12 sessions for each courses)
Full year
Textbook “Minna no Nihongo” Elementary Level 1 Courses are determined according to an individual student’s effective Japanese language level.
Course Fee
(textbook charge is not included)
2,000 yen per session
(Course fee after the 7th lesson is 1,000 yen per person.)
The course fee for private lessons is 3,000 yen.
The course fee for groups of over 2 people is 2,000 yen per person.
(※ when taking 4 classes a month)

For those who wish to learn Japanese but live far away from the FIA,
we will do our best to provide information on Japanese language schools and teachers in your area. Contact us for details.

Will you introduce me to an interpreter?

For events and work related to international exchange and cooperation, the FIA will introduce you to volunteer interpreters.
However, if professional level/field specific translation work, interpreting for legal matters, or work otherwise requiring considerable expertise on the part of the translator,
please consult directly with a professional translation service.

I have some used clothing I want to donate.

There are many organizations committed to sending used clothing to developing countries among other means of supporting the developing world.
You can find them on the internet by entering keywords such as “international cooperation,” “clothing,” “support,” etc.
Several major organizations are listed below for your convenience.
Clothing accepted, mode of delivery, and related expenses vary from organization to organization,
so please confirm these with the organization you intend to donate them to.

Do you have an international phone available for public calls?

The public phone at the FIA can place international calls. However, a phone card is required (the phone will not accept coins).
