October 1983 “4th Long-term Plan for Fukui Prefecture” established.
January 1986 “~Proposal for internationalization~ Striving to open Fukui Prefecture to the world”
submitted to the governor by the Committee to Build up Fukui in the Era of Globalization.
November 1986 “International Cultural Exchange Center” established.
(Supervision and management delegated to Fukui Prefecture Organization for Cultural Promotion.)
March 1988 Report on “Developing a Framework for Promoting Internationalization”
submitted to the governor by the Internationalization Promotion Committee.
December 1988 “New Long-term Plan for Fukui Prefecture” established.
March 1989 Fukui International Association established.
April 1989 International Cultural Exchange Center renamed “International Exchange Center.”
January 1990 Fukui International Association accredited by the Ministry of Home Affairs as Regional Internationalization Association.
May 1993 Fukui International Association Reinan Center established.
August 1994 Fukui International Association accredited by the governor as a Special Public Interest Corporation.
October 1996 Opening of the Fukui International Activities Plaza (FIA Plaza).
March 1997 10th anniversary.
April 2006 Governor of Fukui Prefecture designated as administrator of Fukui International Activities Plaza.
March 2009 20th anniversary.
April 2009 Governor of Fukui Prefecture designated as administrator of Fukui International Activities Plaza.
Mission Statement The Fukui International Association was founded in order to contribute to the internationalization of Fukui Prefecture through sponsoring events and promoting international and intercultural exchange that involve as many prefectural residents as possible.

・Work related to fostering multicultural coexistence and assistance for foreign residents
